Creating raised beds are great if you have the means to create them. They can be very expensive if you are starting out and building beds out of cedar planks. So what if you are a poor college student with limited funds? What if you lost your employment and now have to rethink your garden plans? Here is a simple solution that is both attractive and environmentally safe...glass bottles!

I saw this at the Philadelphia Flower Show the other week and thought this is perfect for the frugal gardener. It is easy to do and works rather well. Simply dig a trench around the area in which you wish to garden. Depending on the time of year, either staple old cardboard inside the bottles to kill back the sod grass or add leaf compost followed by your soil mix. This will create a space that is both attractive and useful. And best of all...this is totally free. Hit up your local watering hole for glass bottles, they usually just throw them in the trash and they sit in a landfill for years.

The net positive to using glass bottles is great. Anytime we can reduce landfill waste and create landscape art that is useful it is a positive for the New Age Farmer.

The recycled border process as you write about that with the reading of it. Those who are looking for the best kind of the recycle process they will admire this best kind of the process about that you write in this process.

This is a very good idea if you want to recycle materials and make it look creatively at the same time. I never thought glass bottles can be used as borders. You have a really creative thinking. I will surely keep this in mind. I might do this as well when I already have my own house someday. Thank you for sharing this.

It's a pretty awesome idea. I definitely should remember it. It's a nice post.
